TGIF

Tomorrow is moving day! I really hope, really, really hope everything goes well. There are so many things that have to go well...the carpet is not in yet they plan to put it in tonight or in the morning we can get the key in the morning and the movers come then so...it is going to be a little chaotic. I might need some coffee to start the day, aside from my indulging at Barnes and Nobles with my gift card I have only been drinking tea.

So I found out today that I need to get the car registered and inspected before  I can get my drivers license. Oi. Oh and to register a car can cost $200 -$300. Icky. Oh and it takes about 3 months for the drivers license to come in the mail??!!! So....

I stopped today and picked up some peaches from I road side stand. I got ripped off at $5 for a basket with 6 peaches. But it was so yummy looking. Then I drove down the road to a scenic view spot, ate my sliced peppers, and took some photos.The sky has had some foreboding clouds but no rain. Oh well, watching Adventure Time reruns while cleaning made my day:)

Day 5

Today was another exploring day. I attempted some exploring...GPS tried to kill me...."turn right and then right ...now do a u turn" . "But GPS I'm in the middle of the highway."I whimpered. Sad face. I almost dread going out driving knowing I'm going to get lost. Sigh...I'm going to figure out my way around.

Tomorrow is License day, I think. Today I was going to do it but I think Ben and I are going to try to go together. 

After getting lost and not finding a tea shop I drove myself to the Barnes and Nobles, because I know how to get there. So with soy latte and Udon veggie  noodle soup I sat outside in the shade and took some photos.

I have started listening to KUT, the local NPR station. It's not too boots and spurs..if ya know what I mean.:P

So simple day.

Day 4 Stayed Indoors

So Ben bought me a book this last weekend, Wildly Austin: Austin's Landmark Art Volume 1 . It seems to be the only volume so it's kinda funny that its volume 1. In it it has all the kitchy art around Austin. I really want to take photos at the different places in the book. I saw some of the kitchy things mentioned on the book. Yesterday I saw the giant tan arm off Guadalupe St., the knight in shining armor off S. Lamar , and the taco goddess off S Lamar Yesterday  was my first day driving about so I really wanted to keep moving and look around so, I want to go back to these sites and get photos.

As for what I got done today I talked to the utilities and did some house cleaning. (Boring I know.) I hope to get my Texas drivers license tomorrow. I have to get an emission/ state inspection on the car before we can get Texas tags, yes plural tags for both the front and back of the car. Anyways, I made an appointment for the inspection (after I checked all over online and found a coupon). Yay discount!!

So other than that I'm painting on a piece of wood. A little bit of Texas scenery. Its just a little bit of fun. I need to start applying for more jobs I just got a "thanks but no thanks" letter:( I really want an art job. In the mean time I will keep painting, set my Etsy store back up, find some cafes and tea shops to set up shows.

Oh, I found Krist's addy so SNAIL MAIL. I love writing snail mail:) Krist loves it too, we are such dorks. I joined a group" Letter Writer's Alliance" they have pen pals and adorable stationary. Oh and I got a pin and membership card when I joined. So I'll be painting and writing snail mail tonight while watching old episodes of Super Natural. Happy!

Made it home again

So, I wandered all over Austin. It was frustrating at times dealing with lights that say "Capital Hwy at next signal" no right or left turn marked. Or all the historical maker signs that points to the historical marker once you are right on it so no forewarning. Most of this is annoying to me because I really do not like curvy, hilly roads...where everyone is driving 60+....I just need to get use to it. But I am proud to day I made it to every stop I was hoping to make today. I found the grocery store last after Ben gave me directions. But I found the Barnes and Noble spent some gift card money to get a soy latte, YUM!

While driving down 1st South I saw quite a few places I want to check out. Sadly there is road work going on right now and its down to one lane in many areas. I  really didn't want to park and walk to the places I was interested in not in the mid day sun with out a parasol. Sun burns hurt :P There is a place called "Caffeine Dealer" it looked cool. There is a book case dealer.. Plus S Lamar driving down Lamar I saw so many kitchy places I was to snap photos of. So day 3 in Austin is nearly over. Tonight I hope to start painting on a piece of wood I found.

Poking my nose out

So my car showed up last night. It's dusty and a little dirty inside but seems no worse for wear otherwise. I guess I need to start calling it our car. Sharing a car is so alien to me. I've been spoiled by us each having our own for so long.

So now that I have wheels I'm going to venture out. I had to change into cute clothes to work my nerve up. Silly I know but I'm more prone to stay in my little hole as long as possible. But I need to shave and I need to get a file so I've got to wander out into the world. I did find a chunk of wood to paint on. I soaked it in vinegar water last night to kill and bacteria on it. Now it is out on the balcony drying in the outragious heat.

So I am taking my camera as I wander. I hope to have some Austin pics to load up tonight:)

In Austin

Well, today is my second day in Austin. My car should arrive in the next hour or two. So the move is coming along. It's still surreal to me that I'm living in Texas. I guess as a Floridian its not too much of a change, just hotter. I really could use one of my wedding parasols now:) Thankfully by the time the boxes get here and I can dig out a parasol I'll be walking distance to a grocery store and a little shopping plaza. Oh plus our complex has a little gym, I'm not hard core like all the bikers around here who go out in this brutal heat. I need some shade, I feel my face getting pink every time I go outside and that's with 55spf on.

I spent this morning and afternoon on the phone calling to set up utilities at the address we are moving into and dealing with Florida stuff. I figure at least I was not bored. There is very little I can do here, ex specially with out a car and not moved in yet, so doing something productive is better than watching TV.

The cats are moody I suppose that is to be expected.
